  Tower seen from the Thames

After my big walk in Hyde Park, I decided to visit the Tower. So I took the underground to Tower Hill. From there it is only a short walk to the Tower.

The Tower is the best preserved medieval fortress of the Nation.

I is surely worth to visit this historical site, because of its long and bloody history and also because you can see the crown jewels over here.

This must be London’s most fearful building, but before it was used as a prison it was the Royal residence.
At first it was built as a fortress with a castle moat, it was built by William the Conqueror in 1080. Later on it was extended and it was used to house the weapon arsenal, the Crown Jewels and the Royal Mint.

In the Tower there were only executed 7 persons, but more then 300 were executed at Tower Hill, just outside the Tower.
