The cobbles of the market square form a large Hanseatic cross. This is where the Roland statue and Bremen's most famous historic buildings are, such as the Parliament Building and Schütting. The Schütting was built between 1536 and 1538 and used to be the Merchants' Guild House. Today it houses the chamber of commerce.
