"Boat trip to Siem Reap" Angkor Wat Transportation Tip by jinwenwang

Angkor Wat Transportation: 149 reviews and 158 photos

The ferry leaves every morning around 7am from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap (Angkor Wat). It takes about 5 hours. Just take a taxi to get to the ferry place since it is inexpensive and safe.

The ferry might leave late since the local owner always wanted to wait to catch more people onboard. So don't be too serious on TIME. You can take picture on the local boat with a famous Japanese bridge as a background.

Although you can take seat inside the ferry with locals, but almost all foreigners (most of them are backpackers) sit and sleep on the top of the ferry. It could be really hot during the noon time, but you might not even realize since the beautiful nature on both sides of the river would catch your attention. You will get sun-tanned definately with the spicy sun... :-))

When the ferry approaching to the bank, you will see lots of local people (hostel dealer and jeep driver) holding hostel advertising, trying to pitch you.

The driving road to downtown was really bad, bumping up and down heavily, but it was in year 2001.

Remember to try to bargin a bit on price if you care about saving some money :-))
