Fried koay teow is one of the famous penang dishes. It is so famous that they have it all over the country. You can't miss the stalls whenever you make a trip to the hawker center, even in the shopping malls and it even made it into all leading hotels in Malaysia and some other countries.

Called "Penang Fried Koay Teow" one has to try this dish if you are a noodle lover. To me, the best fried koay teow comes from the hawkers and not the hotels. Don't believe me? Try it and see. A plate from the hawker will set you back US$1.00 and a plate from the hotel would cost around US$4-5.

In this picture, you see a lady frying koay teow using charcoal which is very very rare these days. Most of the vendors use gas and there IS a difference. I honestly prefer the charcoal fried one. Oh, if you don't like the koay teow noodle, you can always ask for fried mee, which is another form of noodles, more like spaggetti.
