Favorite thing: The currency for Bulgaria is called the "leva". This is the BGN dollar. Coins or cents are called "stokinki". In dominations of 1,2,5,10,20, 50 & 100.

The currency rate changes daily. When going to change currency to BGN, there are places mostly named "change". The usually charge a comission for the change. There are many places arround. Including in the Sofia Airport.

One thing I do is get BGN out of a ATM machine. This way I get max amount of change with no problem and it is fast & convinent with no comission.

When shopping mostly all places take cash. No charge card.
