"Folkets Park" is a very Swedish thing. Parks created so the lower classes would have a nice area for recreation in the old days, they have remained and are today loved places for everyone, scattered around the country. Malmö's is the oldest in the country (it being an old working class city) from the late 19th century. Here you will find a fairground, minigolf and pony rides apart from the usual stuff, but most parks "only" have a band stand, tombola huts and a dance floor which can be open air in really small municipalities. They are open in the summer months and you go there to dance to typical "dance band music" for the more mature (listen to ABBA's "I do I do I do" and you will get the gist - a lot of romance and saxophones) and/or to flirt. They also often host Swedish "Top of the Pop" stars on tour around the country. Some are quite beautifully located by a lakeside or secluded in a forest and great fun can be had if you take it for what it is - a study of people! :-)
