"The welcoming Basque's" Bilbao Favorite Tip by Monchichi

Bilbao General: 50 reviews and 70 photos

Favorite thing: Do not rush around the Basque Country, take lots of time, relax and spend time in all parts. From Bilbao take the metro to coastal towns and beaches, see how they live and be grateful you took the chance of going. The people, so proud of their culture, language, traditions and food are a joy to be amongst. I am lucky enough to be moving there in May 2003 with my Girlfriend (from Bilbao) and I will make the most of every second.

Fondest memory: Too many to mention, recent memories that stick in my mind: with my girlfriend and 20 of her friends at the "Cathedral" Athletico Bilbao's San Mames stadium, watching the Basque selection play Macedonia. The noise, the atmosphere, the colour of the Basque flags everywhere, the Kalemoxto (red wine & coke) overwhelming. 2: My girlfriends brother bringing me up high over Bilbao into the mountains to see a friend who bought a tiny cottage as a holiday hide-away, superb, crazy, normal.
