  Sint-Jacobus church in Kapellen
by petwouters

This is the Sint-Jacobs church, and it's the oldest building of the town of Kapellen.

The choir in the church dates back to the 14th century, the rest was only finished in the 16th century.

In the 19th century, the inner parts of the church, as well as the tower, were rebuilt in neogothic style.

The pulpit, the confessionals, the choir-stalls and mural decorations were sculpted in the 18th century by mr. Kerrickx.

The church also has a renaissance altar depicting Saint Sebastian, with a high altar of gilted cupper.

Definitely worth having a look!

Address: Kerkstraat in the center of Kapellen
Directions: Take the road to Putte & Bergen Op Zoom; you will find the church a little bit further on the left.
