"Do Honour to the Little Humpedback" Valencia Things to Do Tip by DanielF
Valencia Things to Do: 524 reviews and 1,178 photos
No tour of Valencia would be complete without a visit to the mighty Geperudeta, the Little Humpedback, which is how Valencias call colloquially Our Lady of the Unsheltered (Marededéu dels Desemparats), the Mother Patroness of the city. She is venerated in a Barroque basilique connected to the cathedral by a bridge.
The basilique was erected in the end of the XVII century and it is the only church in the old area of Valencia that was not built on the basis of a previous religious building.
