One of the symbols of the capital of Laos. It was built to commemorate Lao who had died in battle serving their country before the revolutionary wars. Ironically, it was built in the sixties with concrete donated by the United States for the construction of the airport.

The monument is reminescent of the Arc de Triomphe of Paris, but the upper part is uniquely Laotian.
