The Shi tennoji is founded in 593 and one of the oldest temples in Japan. But none of the buildings are original. Most are concrete replicas. And the grounds are all gravel. It was just not what one would like to see. Yet this temple is one of the most famous ones in Osaka. But we would recommend to drop it from the list and visit the Isshinji (see off the beathen path ) and the Tennoji park area instead.
