"Come to Bagan come what may...." Myanmar (Burma) Favorite Tip by Tenzin

Myanmar (Burma) General: 190 reviews and 206 photos

Favorite thing: Come to Bagan come what may. The Burmese love to point that out there in Bagan which ever sites your finger points is listed as an Unesco historical monument. Every Buddhist temple has an interesting story to tell. My favourite is one where from far you actually see the 9m(?) storey high Buddha statue smiling invitingly. As it draws you closer to take a closer look and you lift up your head to admire its golden hue it actually looks as it it's talking or rather preaching to you. Such is the incredible sophistication of the Burmese artistes indeed.

Fondest memory: Burmese food is surprisingly palatable. None of the numbing effect of the Thai cuisine but equally pleasing and subtle in its light and tasty cooking.
