Favorite thing: Staid and kinda boring, Bridgeport, west of the Dan Ryan, in the 3000 block, is home to the Chicago White Sox, numerous mayors and a sizeable chunk of Irish-descended folks. It's a place of bungelows, corner taverns where the beer is served in cans and a lot of churches. It's not an exciting place, but its role in Chicago history is strong. It's also my new home, for me, this is REAL Chicago. The 35th Avenue/Sox Red Line stop is convenient for reaching Comiskey Park (the main reason for coming here) but those wanting to see more of the area are best using a car or the number 8 Halsted bus.
