This is the famous opera house of Argentina. It is said to have 1 of the best acoustics in the world. The building itself is almost 100 years old, and structurally it is beautiful on the exterior. The interioir is strikingly beautiful, any no visitor to Buenos Aires should miss the chance to take a tour of the theatre.

Times of the tours vary depending upon the season, the day, and the mood sometimes of whoever is in charge. As a general rule, usually there are no tours on Mondays as it is "cleaning day". During the summer season, there is usually a tour every hour on the hour from about 10 AM - 4/5 PM, and in winter there are just a few tours per day. Tours are in Spanish or in English.

The price for non-Argentiniens is 10 pesos which now, January 2004 is about 3.50 US dollars).

To see a performance at the theatre is great, too, but in summer the opera takes a break.

To get here, take a taxi or take the GREEN line subway to subway stop TRIBUNALES, and you are there! The theatre is located on the famous and wide Avenida 9 de Julio, near the Obelisk.
