We spent a good few hours walking around the Kaikoura peninsula taking in the spectacular views. On the way visit Fyffe House (an old whalers cottage) and Ohau Point Seal colony. Here you can get a good view of seals trying to get some kip, a difficult feat with so many tourists trying to take your picture, there is a warning not to get too close because they can and do bite. There are two paths around the peninsula, one along the coast (depending on tide-times) and the other along the cliff tops. We chose the latter, which offered amazing views. It seems like a big hotel complex is scheduled to be built on these cliffs, so appreciate the beauty while you can.
