The organ was commissioned in 1732 by the mayor of Gouda to Jacob Francois Moreau, from Rotterdam. It cost € 5210 at the time and took 2 and a half years to build.

The organ front was designed by Hendrik Carré and the total cost of the organ was € 21623,54 which was a huge amount in those days.
