OK, so you've heard about Midsummer celebration and now you want to experience it? Many people have their own parties in someone's summer house but there are loads of celebrations for those who don't (just ask at the tourist office or check the local press if you think you can manage reading Swedish). In Stockholm you can celebrate at the Skansen open air museum but if that feels to artificial for you, I suggest you travel to the province of Dalarna which is very folkloristic and where places like Mora, Orsa and Leksand have midsummer activities with traditional music and loads of flowers.
Another exotic tip is to book yourself in at Riksgränsen on the Norwegian border where you can generally ski on the fells in the midnight sun! Wherever you go, don't forget to pick seven different flowers and keep under your pillow so you will dream about who you will marry :-) Oh, and you ARE allowed to shake your head when a load of Swedes dance around the maypole acting like frogs...!
