Tour Boat Out of the Flamingo Area of the Park

Favorite thing: Your visit to the Everglades will be one based on outdoor activities. If you enjoy biking you will find the best biking areas are on the Shark Valley road, the Snake Bight Trail at Flamingo, and at Long Pine Key. Inland and coastal park waters are popular for fishing. Check at the visitor centers for park fishing regulations and be aware that some areas of the park are closed to fishing. The Wilderness Waterway covers about 99 miles in the park and offers backcountry camping options by permits for both motorboats and canoes. There are also shorter marked canoe trails available near flamingo: Nine Mile Pond is a 5.2 miles loop, Noble Hammock is a 2-mile loop, Hells Bay is 5.5 miles one way, West Lake is 7.7 miles one way, Mud Lake is a 4.8 mile loop, and Bear Lake is 2 miles one way. Florida Bay is also a popular area for canoeing. Another choice is to register for one of the guided excursion boat trips. Hiking is another popular outdoor past time and you will find many trails of varying lengths offered. Seven of these trails can be found in the Flamingo area and range from a 2-mile loop at Noble Hammock to a 13-mile hike along the Bear Lake Canal. You will also find hiking areas along the Pineland Trails in the Long Pine Key Area and in Shark Valley.
