Say Flyinge to any horse loving Swede and you will get a reaction. State stud for the Swedish warmblood, there has been a state stud here since 1661 but horses have been bred here much longer as it was founded by the Danish Bishop Absalon who also founded Copenhagen. Today, young Swedes get an equestrian university education here. People also come to clinics with international stars like show jumper Peter Eriksson and Finland's dressage star Kyra Kyrklund and it is one of the two meccas in riding-horse Sweden. The mansion itself is also nice, yellow facades embedded in the rolling countryside. If you get to Flyinge in November, you might miss the countryside but instead, you can see the Flyinge Days with shows and competitions. The village itself is on the Eslöv side of the River Kävlinge and offers a couple of Viking runestones to those not at all into horses.
