This is just a lovely place to walk, there is historical information about the Gorge in the bandstand (pic above), or you can just sit under a tree and dream. Twice a year there are large well organised concerts which run all afternoon and into the night, one is a more conservative evening and the other is modern music of the day. Locals and interstate visitors take a picnic and a blanket.

There is also a chairlift that runs over the gorge, so you can lose your shoes in the water if you'd like. It terrifies my eight year old goddaughter and my Grandfather's wife.

Directions: Cateract Gorge can be reached from Trevallyn, on the West side of the river, or from West Launceston, Basin Road, the more common entry point.
