Various: "Fado" Portugal Nightlife Tip by acemj

The most well-known musical form in Portugal is the Fado, which is most easily seen in Lisbon and Coimbra, but can be seen throughout the country. The Coimbra version is supposed to be the purest form, so if you have the opportunity, see it performed there.

My experience with Fado wasn't the best (see my Lisbon page for details), but don't let that dissuade you from seeing a performance. Just be prepared to pay for it. Most shows are performed at restaurant/fado clubs that charge a premium for the entertainment during your meal.
