  Charlemagne statue, near Notre Dame
by mrclay2000

Dominating the open area due south of Notre Dame stands the large sculpture to Charlemagne, one of the most impressive statues to French monarchy in the city. I am particularly impressed by its sweeping grandeur and its almost ghost-like Middle Earth qualities, highly befitting the Dark Age era which it describes.
