We really enjoyed our time for the sunset at Shwedagon Paya. We arrived about 4:45 and stayed for 3 hours. It gave us time to take some late afternoon photos and also some sunset photos and then night time photos as the lights that are put on the Shwedagon Paya's main Pagoda make it quite fantastic! We didn't get bored in the 3 hours as we wandered around the 5 hectare area. Alot of the monks and local people wanted to practise English and ask lot's of questions. When they found out we where from Alaska they had lot's of questions.
The experience of being there was just fantastic. It seemed quite busy with lot's of praying going on and local believers taking water in the circular water pots saying their prayers. After sunset it seemed to get busier. We just sat back and watched all that was going on! Of course not really understanding everything that was going on but I think that it would be impossible to figure it all out in a 3 hour visit!
