There's no one definitive Must See in the UK. It all depends on what you like to do or see. I suppose everyone should see London at least once mainly because it has something for nearly everyone. Even people that prefer the country side will find expansive parks and greenspace in London, places to get away from it all and for those people i'd recommend Greenwich or Hampstead or Kew.

I recommend getting a couple of guidebooks from the library. Each one will have a different outlook so you will get a better overall view and can start deciding the best things to see that will suit. A bus tour is a good way to see a little bit of a lot or get a Brit Rail pass and take the guidebook with you and wander at will.
