Mechanicsville Drug Store lunch counter: "Old Style Lunch Counter" Mechanicsville Restaurant Tip by b1bob
Mechanicsville Restaurants: 45 reviews and 87 photos
Mechanicsville Drug Store has an old-time lunch counter. With Walgreen's and CVS stores popping up like weeds on just about every corner, Mechanicsville Drug Store stubbornly holds on, old lunch counter and all. The menu is simple, but that is in character with this small town, even as close to Richmond as we are and the folks behind the counter still have that small-town charm. The odd thing is politicians conducting statewide campaigns, even Democrats (which are rare in these parts) see the Mechanicsville Drug Store lunch counter as a "must stop" on their campaign trail. It's not wall to wall in ambience and you won't find anything fancy here, but that's part of the charm. I rate it higher than restaurants which overdo it on the fancy menu and decor.
Favorite Dish: The Holt's Tiny Burger (not small at all, but named for a local restaurateur named Tiny Holt) and a hot dog with chili. Their limeade is good to wash either down.
