The centre of Panjim is the Church Square (Municipal Gardens), a busy square full of life. At the east side you can see the imposing Church of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception with its steps zigzaging up the hill.
The name Panjim (or Panaji) means "the land that does not flood" and that’s why the portuguese made their capital here…
