Note there are 135 spires on it's massive roof and many statues and gargoyles.
The outside of the Cathedral is 157 m (514 ft.) long and, 92 m (301 ft) at the transept, and covers an area of 11.800 square meters, making it one of the largest churches in the world after Saint Peter's in Rome and the Cathedral Seville in Spain. The highest pinnacle, topped with the statue of the "Madonnina" (Madonna), reaches a height of 109 meters. Both Italian and French architects had a hand in its modifications, which made it look more Gothic.

There are tombs beneath the main alter and excavations have revealed remains from the original 4th century bapistry.
