"GUJARAT ~ Dhoramnath Temple, Than" Top 5 Page for this destination India Off The Beaten Path Tip by Canadienne

One of the benefits of staying at the Dhoramnath Monastery is that it gives you time to follow a hillside trek to the Temple at the peak of the mountain behind it. The climb takes around an hour and it's over very rocky terrain. The views from the peak are amazing ~ you can actually see the rim of the Great Rann of Khachchh and it's only a three-hour walk to the border with Pakistan.
The Temple is occupied by a mad chillum-smoking Saddhu ~ the brother of the Monk at the monastery. Their mother also lives in the monastery complex below, making it a true family affair.
