Slap bang in the middle of the city is the Fort Canning Park. Little is left of the fort itself, (other than the gatehouse) as this was demolished in the 1920s to make way for the reservoir that sits proudly at the top. But it's quite an interesting miasma of spots, ranging from the terraces providing various vantage points overlooking the city, a small graveyard of colonialists who died young, the grand neo-classical dance centre (a former barracks) as well as a shrine of Sultan Iskander Shah and the recent discovery of 14th century Javenese artefacts. Its also a spot to get away from the crowds!
