"Remote and wild" Scotland Off The Beaten Path Tip by tvor

Scotland Off The Beaten Path: 260 reviews and 423 photos

Most of Scotland is off the beaten track. Most tourists go for the cities or some of the lovely castles such as Stirling or Eilean Donan... Oh and they flock to Loch Ness and Loch Lomond. The best way to see the rest of Scotland is to drive or take a bus around the countryside, especially the Highlands and further north. It's wild and remote, spectacularly beautiful lochs and mountains.

This photo was taken near Glencoe, site of the famous massacre of the Campbells by the MacDonalds. Scotland is full of ghosts and tragedies like this. Drive along the Great Loch up into the highlands and be ready to be astounded.
