Established in 1884, Gateway Riverboat Cruises is the oldest river-excursion boat company operating on the Mississippi River. The vessels include the Tom Sawyer and the Becky Thatcher, replicas designed to resemble the old Mississippi River paddle boats.

One-hour narrated cruises are operated daily. They run along the Saint Louis riverfront and historical sights and attractions are pointed out, explained, and described. Two-hour dinner cruises, featuring a live Dixieland band and prime rib, are operated on weekends and selected dates. There are also five-hour lock-and-dam cruises to the confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi rivers which are run in September and October.
