Favorite thing: I stayed in the Juneau area for four days and was dumbfounded by the beauty of the region. The hiking opportunities within this region are endless. The for the most part well maintained hiking trails reach all levels of difficulties from leisurely walks to very strenuous trails. The whole region is photography hobbiest's dream.
There are great opportunities to see wildlife in this region. Bears, both grizzlies and blacks, abound. There are also caribou, dear, porcupines, and numerous variety of birds including bald eagles. If you stay close to the water you might be lucky and catch a glimpse of a whale. We briefly saw one while fishing.

Fondest memory: There are great opportunities to see wildlife in this region. Bears, both grizzlies and blacks, abound. There are also caribou, dear, porcupines, and numerous variety of birds including bald eagles. If you stay close to the water you might be lucky and catch a glimpse of a whale. We briefly saw one while fishing. I have included more pictures of the scenery we saw while hiking in Alaska in a travelogue section.
