"Coromandel Part III - The northeast coast." New Zealand Off The Beaten Path Tip by worldkiwi

New Zealand Off The Beaten Path: 224 reviews and 260 photos

by worldkiwi

The northeast coast of Coromandel has some beautiful beaches. This area is popular with New Zealanders, but a lot of overseas visitors miss out on seeing this part of the country, as it is well off the packaged tourist routes. Whitianga is the main town, with a range of motels (hotels with kitchen facilities) and backpackers. Nearby Cook's Beach (take the ferry from Whitianga), has a lovely beach and camping places. The photo shows Whitianga's long north facing beach.
