"Visit the Interior of the Basilica" Old Town + Cathedral - Casco Viejo & El Arenal Tip by DanielF

The main thing to see in the interior of the three-nave church is the wood carved statue of the Virgin, dating back to the 13th century and located in the centre of an exuberantly gilded Baroque altar. The Virgin was crowned in 1900 by the Bishop of Vitoria.

The church is filled with pilgrims every Sunday and, particularly, on 15 August, day of the Assumption of Our Lady, and on 11 October, when the festivity of Our Lady of Begońa is commemorated.
