"Arrange your visit to the Palace of the Generality" Valencia Things to Do Tip by DanielF
Valencia Things to Do: 525 reviews and 1,179 photos
Seat of the Valencian Government since the Middle Ages, this XV century palace is another masterpiece of Gothic civil architecture in Valencia, although it has suffered various additions and modifications in the course of the last centuries. Of its two towers, only one is Medieval. The second one dates back to the mid XX century, although the result looks quite achieved in terms of historical faithfulness. The external appearance of the palace is quite sober, but the interior is splendorous, particularly in its "Golden Hall".
Since the region of Valencia gained autonomy after the Constitution of 1978, the palace has been the seat of the regional government.
Visits, only guided, must be arranged by calling the local tourist office in advance.
Directions: Between the Square of Our Lady, Knights Streets and Manises Square, formerly known as Square of Saint Barholomew.
