  Louis XIII, Place des Vosges

The oldest square in town, the Place des Vosges, is one of the few that is enclosed, in this case by uniform buildings on a perfect square. I much prefer the more open squares myself, like the Place de la Concorde, the Place du Caroussel, and the Place du Parvis. However, the Place des Vosges offers grass and fountains and peaceful seclusion, which are never regretted in any urban setting.
