Favorite thing: Syrian people are very friendly. Unlike other arab and Maghreb countries, there are no touts, no sale pressure, no insistence, no continuous requests of money.
The Syrians, including the well educated kids, will always treat you as a welcome guest in their country and will try to help you with everything without asking anything back.
