Favorite thing: CERAMICS making dates back to almost 8000 years ago when tribes made earthen wares with clay. It reached its artistic peak during the Song Dynasty when true porcelain was developed from fine kaolin clay. During the Yuan Dynasty, the blue & white porcelain (so commonly seen in many museums & palaces in the west today) made its appearance. It has a white background with decors done in blue cobalt (originated from Persia). This is a typical characteristic of Chinese ceramics.
