"Irwin Home and Gardens" Columbus Things to Do Tip by sambarnett

  Irwin Garden

In 1910 architect Wendell Phillips of Boston designed this home for William Irwin, a local banker, industrialist and philanthropist. The highlight is the garden, a beautiful maze based on the Casa degli Innamorati in Pompeii. It is open to the public on spring, summer and autumn weekends. Interesting to note, only the English sundial and a Japanese bronze elephant sculpture don't follow the Italitan motif.

Directions: Across the street from the library, on Fifth Street.
