About 100m further then Cavenagh bridge, you see Anderson bridge. Cross this bridge and on your right handside you'll see the <font color ='blue'>Merlion Park</font>. This white statue is the Merlion, in fact half-fish and half-lion and this is also the symbol of Singapore.
According to the legend, the Singa or Lion, which Prince Sang Nila Utama first caught sight of on the island was seen near this very spot. Integrating the Lion head with the body of a fish was a means of paying tribute to Singapore's history as an ancient sea town.
