The Blue mosque is called "Sultan Ahmet Cami" in Turkish,In 1606 Sultan Ahmet wanted to build a mosque which should be bigger and more beautiful than Santa Sofia Museum..
The reason it is called 'Blue Mosque ' because of its magnificent interior paneling of blue nad white Iznik tales..
It is built to be used as a public service for the citizens..
Open everyday and free :)
Before entering you should take your shoes off. The staff at the mosque will give you a wrap-round shawl cover yourself if they think your clothing is not appropriate for the mosque.
