"Hexagonal Towers" Yedikule Fortress - Golden Gate Tip by mrclay2000

  hexagonal tower and ramparts, Yedikule
by mrclay2000

The outer towers of Yedikule were built at the same time as the wall (early 4th century). The curtain wall inside is a Turkish structure built under Mehmet the Conqueror (15th century). The hexagonal outer tower here is Greek, while the inner towers built by the Turks retain the cylindrical look of the majority of towers in the Theodosian Wall.
