The 36 Doric columns on this memorial built in the style of a classical Greek temple represent the 36 states at the time of Lincoln's death. If you look closely, you will notice that the columns are not regular. This irregularity in size and shape was deliberate.

Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address is on the North wall. The South wall contains the Gettysburg Address..

The statue of Lincoln by Daniel Chester French is 19 feet high and weighs 175 tons.
