"Traunkirchen" Austria Things to Do Tip by sandysmith
Austria Things to Do: 468 reviews and 844 photos
Inspired by poets because of its scenic beauty, Traunkirchen adorns the western shore of the tranquil and unspoilt Lake Traunse. Forming part of the Austrian Romantic Road area, the village juts out into the lake, like a small island and is dominated by a church, overlooking the lake. This church originally formedpart of an 11th century Benedictiine Abbey, later to be rebuilt by the Jesuit Fathers. Here can be seen the 'Fishermans' Pulpit' representing the Apostl'e ship.
