Lassen Volcanic National Park Things to Do: 102 reviews and 199 photos

Mt. Lassen and its neighboring peaks were once part of an enormous mountain which has been named Mount Tehama. Mt. Tehama was a behemoth that while only 11,500 feet high was a staggering eleven miles in diameter. The last volcanic activity at Mt. Tehama ended some 400,000 years ago. The Sulphur works is at the center of what used to be Mt. Tehama and standing here the visitor can easily see the peaks that once formed the rim of Mt. Tehama.
