Lassen Volcanic National Park Things to Do: 102 reviews and 199 photos

The first stop when coming into the park from the south entrance. Try rolling down the windows and smell this attraction before seeing it. It lives up to its name. There are a number of gurgling mud pots and fumeroles at this area. It is a place where all five senses can get in on the action. See the steam rising from the vents, smell the noxious sulphur, feel the heat being generated from the underground rumblings, hear the hiss of the steam escaping from the fumeroles and if you are brave take a big gulp of air, swirl it in your mouth and taste the sulphurous vapors.
