"Castlepoint" Wairarapa Tip by keeweechic

Wairarapa, New Zealand: 2 reviews and 2 photos

Castlepoint is named by Capt Cook for its fortress-like headland and it is the only settlement of any size along the entire length of coast between Cape Palliser and Cape Kidnappers. Fur seals can be seen at various places, and the occasional sea elephant and sea leopard have also been seen. This seaside resort offers surf beaches and a sheltered lagoon for reef fishing and floundering.

About 2 hrs drive from Wellington.
