"Elden pride and history" Elden Local Custom Tip by Pavlik_NL
Elden Local Customs: 2 reviews and 2 photos
Elden, being a village with wide agricultural lands surrounding it, still holds it's pride of once being independant. The village-council often gets into conflict with Arnhem-town and shows it's historical-cultural differnet face with every opportunity.
The harvest-festivities in late summer are very intresting and also show this history in agriculture.
In this history Elden also had many conflict with the river Rhine as occasionaly with high water the dikes broke and water swallowed houses and fields. Proove of these disasterous floods you can find in the "Horseshoe"-lake and lake in the "Westerhof"-park. Both came to be after the water gushed through the dike at these places in medieval times.
