Oriental has an anchorage outside the breakwater and also a free dock right in town. You have to have a reasonable size boat (I think 35 feet is about the limit so it is too small for us) and I don't think there is but about 6 feet of water there. You are also limited to a stay of one or two days.

The dock was damaged by Hurricane Isabel, but has been rebuilt.

Equipment: The sign next to the dock says "No Mooring on Sea Wall". The town is helpful to boaters.

At one time when we were there, there were 3 sailboats - one on each side of the dock and one crossways at the end.

The main picture was taken about 1700 (5 pm). There were 3 boats on the free city docks

Address: Water Street
Directions: At the head of the bight in town. Turn to starboard at R8 after passing the breakwater.
Theme: Boating/Sailing

Review Helpfulness: 3.5 out of 5 stars
