Every first Saturday in September, the Police dep. of Renkum (district) organises the Airborne hiking march. This one-day event is the largest (in contestants) in the world and draws each year app. 30.000 walkers. rom veterans to children and from all over the world they come. The hikers are welcomed "back" by 100.000 enthousiastic people and the event in itself is remarkable.
The hikers can choose between 10, 15, 25 and 40 kilometres and the routes pass by several memorable landmarks that connect with the Battle of Arnhem.
As remembrance one gets a little medaille. More information can be found on the website or ... mail me (2003 brings my 20st edition!)..

Equipment: Good shoes and ... when it rains, which is in Holland not unlikely ... an umbrella or raincoat.
